OAKLAND NURSING HOME
Oakland is a 27 bed nursing home, extensively refurbished in 1998 and provides 21 single and 3 double rooms with en-suite toilet facilities.
The home is owned by Oakland Care Limited and the directors are Wayne and Shameem Taylor.
The Registered Care Manager, Polly McNeil Stonehouse RGN, RMA leads a team of specialist nurses to provide 24 hour nursing care. Polly has 32 years nursing experience, specialising predominantly in Elderly Care. She has experience of Palliative Care, Surgical and Medical Nursing and District Nursing. She holds The Registered Managers Award and is completing NVQ Level 4 in Management.
NURSING STAFF
- The nursing team comprises Savitri Tennassee (RGN Deputy Manager), Registered Nurses, Team Leaders (NVQ Level 3), Senior Carers (NVQ Level 2 and 3), Carers, Activities Organiser/House Mother, Housekeepers and Chefs.
- Oakland staff have completed training courses in Management Development, NVQ Level 2 and 3 Health and Social Care, Team Leadership, Palliative Care, Wound Management, Abuse, Nutrition and Diabetes.
ADMISSION CRITERIA
- Oakland is registered with The Commission for Social Care and Inspection to provide 24 hour nursing care for service users over the age of 65-an assessment being required prior to admission. On admission an individual plan of nursing care is completed and this is planned and delivered through evidence based information. It promotes the individual's choice, privacy, independence and dignity at all times and takes into account their personal, physical, social, psychological and spiritual well-being.
HEALTHCARE
- All service users have access to their General Practitioner and other Specialist Consultants, Dentist, Podiatrist, Audiologist and Optician. Oakland operates a minimal lifting policy. This is to safeguard Staff and Service Users from risk of injury due to manual handling. All staff have mandatory training in this area.
